Shark bites woman in the head

A woman has been attacked by a shark off the coast of South Australia and seriously injured in the head. The 32-year-old was in the water with a friend when the animal attacked, as reported by 9News. The shark also bit her on the face.

The accident occurred near the town of Port Noarlunga, south of Adelaide. Numerous emergency services were deployed and provided first aid before the victim could be taken to hospital.

There were numerous bathers on the beach, including many children. "It was really horrible," Tom Bearne, who lives in the area, told the ABC. "I've never seen anything like it here in my life." It was initially unclear what species of shark it was. Emergency services searched for the animal - but were initially unsuccessful.

It was the fourth shark attack off the state of South Australia this year. Two of the victims were never found. A 64-year-old woman survived an attack at the beginning of October with serious injuries to her leg.

In light of the shark attack, local authorities are urging caution during swimming hours, especially with young animals and children nearby. Due to the increasing number of emergencies involving shark attacks, animal welfare organizations are advocating for more research and measures to prevent such incidents.
