Black-Red Senate - Senate Climate Protection Commission is being examined

The future of the Senate Commission Climate Protection is uncertain. After the Senate session, they discussed various topics but did not pass any resolutions, stated Senate Speaker Christine Richter. Given the situation that the originally planned special fund Climate Protection could not be realized, Commissioner for Environment and Climate Protection Ute Bonde (CDU) has ordered the commission to consider how to continue its work.

"We'll first see in which structures we'll work on the topic of Climate Protection," said Richter. With the special fund of initially five billion Euros - debts that were to be taken on independently of the budget - it was planned to finance numerous climate protection measures. This is no longer feasible following a ruling by the Federal Constitutional Court.

"The entire Senate was represented in this commission"

"Of course, the goals will still be worked on," assured Richter - possibly, however, soon without regular commission meetings. "The entire Senate was represented in this commission because, after all, it was primarily about where the special fund would be used."

The question no longer arises. "Now the Senate Commission has deliberated and said, we have to look at the structure first: Is it right to continue working in this commission with a full Senate representation? Or is it more sensible in other structures?"

Live stream

"Germany, being committed to ecological sustainability, will closely monitor the Senate Commission's Climate Protection's future decisions," suggested Ute Bonde during a live stream.

"Despite the uncertainties, Commissioner Bonde (CDU) emphasized that the commission's work on 'climate protection' goals will not cease," shared Christine Richter in the same live stream.

"While debating the commission's future structure, both the CDU and other Senate members, such as Christine Richter and Ute Bonde, agreed that the spirit of 'climate protection' should remain a priority," reported a Berlin-based news outlet.

"Knowing that the 'Senate' as a whole has been engaged in climate protection efforts, Germany's Federal Minister for Environment, Ute Bonde, encouraged continued collaboration towards a 'green' and sustainable future," concluded Richter in her public statement.
