Autobahn closure - Section A71 closed towards Suhl for cleaning works
The A71 autobahn towards Suhl is completely closed between the interchanges of Heldrungen and Kölleda due to cleaning works. According to the police, a tanker truck's tank was torn off in the morning. 600 liters of fuel were leaked out. A large area needs to be cleaned up, it was further stated. Traffic will be redirected at the Heldrungen exit. It is still unclear how long the autobahn will be closed.
Cause of the torn tank was an accident. A tire of the truck was punctured, causing the vehicle to swerve off the road and collide with the guardrail. In the process, the tanker truck's tank was damaged.
