SC Magdeburg signs Spanish center back Cuenca

Handball - SC Magdeburg signs Spanish center back Cuenca

The German Handball champion SC Magdeburg reinforces its backcourt with Spanish player Antonio Serradilla Cuenca. The 25-year-old is transferring from the Norwegian top club and European League participant Elverum Handball to the Elbe. The club announced that he signed a contract until June 30, 2015.

"Last season, we greatly benefited from our squad depth, which significantly contributed to our recent successes. Therefore, we have now taken the opportunity to widen our squad for the upcoming season. With Antonio, we will have an important option in our defensive backcourt to better distribute the workload for the upcoming four competitions plus Super Cup," said Chief Coach and Sports Director Bennet Wiegert.

Right back Cuenca joined Elverum from Spanish top-tier club Logrono La Rioja in February 2023 and has played 14 games for the Spanish national team so far. After the mandatory medical check, he is expected to join SCM's ongoing pre-season training this week. "The SC Magdeburg is one of the best clubs in the world, the Bundesliga is the strongest league in the world. I didn't have to think long before I received the offer," said the Spaniard.

  3. Prior to joining Elverum Handball, the 25-year-old Handball player, Antonio Serradilla Cuenca, had experience playing for the Norwegian club and also represented Spain in 14 international matches.
  4. With the addition of Spanish player Antonio Serradilla Cuenca to its roster, SC Magdeburg aims to improve its defensive backcourt and increase its chances of success in various Handball competitions, including the Bundesliga and the Super Cup.
