Railway accident - S-Bahn in Hannover disrupted longer by goods train accident

The restrictions on the S-Bahn Hannover due to a goods train accident will last longer than previously assumed. The traffic on Line S6 will be disrupted until August 5th, Transdev announced. Previously, the problems were expected to be resolved by July 22nd.

Line S6 will continue to run only between Hannover and Ehlershausen and back. The accident occurred shortly behind Ehlershausen. Passengers can reach Celle regularly from Hamburg and Hannover with Metronom's regional trains. Line S7, which was also affected immediately after the accident, is now operating regularly between Hannover and Celle with all stops.

North-east of Hannover, a locomotive of a goods train derailed on Monday after colliding with the trailer of a tractor at a level crossing, Deutsche Bahn reported. Two people were seriously injured, according to the police.

The trailer detached from the tractor at the level crossing and could not be moved afterwards. The goods train with 34 wagons and two locomotives could not be braked, collided with the trailer, and threw it into an inhabited former railway station building. The locomotive driver was seriously injured, the householder suffered a heart attack. Both were taken to the hospital.
