Animals - Rhino bull Kalusho euthanized at Frankfurt Zoo
He was one of the few black rhinos in Europe and part of Frankfurt Zoo for 30 years - now rhino bull Kalusho has died at the age of 37. The animal was euthanized on Wednesday due to his poor state of health, as the zoo announced on Thursday.
The bull had lost weight in recent months and had become increasingly passive. He was also limited by osteoarthritis. "Yesterday things got so bad that we had to make the decision to put him down sooner than expected," said zoo director Christina Geiger. It is still unclear what the future holds for the rhino in Frankfurt.
