Rhine speaks out in favor of new federal elections
In view of the poor poll results of the traffic light government, Hesse's Minister President Boris Rhein (CDU) is in favor of new federal elections. "The traffic light government has stood for conflict instead of stability since its inception. It is the worst alliance for Germany," Rhein told Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND). "The traffic light should now face up to the vote of the electorate to find out whether it still enjoys sufficient support."
However, Rhein conceded that new elections were unlikely: "But that will probably not happen," he said. With a view to his own party, he therefore called for a willingness to find solutions. The CDU/CSU must see the poll results as a mandate. "People have high hopes for us. People expect solutions from the CDU. We must achieve the best for Germany via the Bundesrat and the Bundestag."
The traffic light coalition, referred to as the traffic light government, has faced criticism for its conflict-=-prone approach since its inception, prompting calls for new elections from figures like Boris Rhein. In the context of the poor performance of their party in polls, various political parties may need to consider the electorate's opinion through elections to assess their ongoing support.
