Berlin (dpa/bb) – Scottish fans were among the most enthusiastic at the European Football Championship. Some of them might be making their way back to Germany again, provided they remain loyal to Glasgow Rangers. "Scottish fans are excited. They can drink standing beer and watch football in a stadium," said Dirk Zingler, President of Bundesliga side 1. FC Union Berlin, before the match against the Scottish vice-champion on Saturday (5:00 PM CET).
Overall, it's expected that An der Alten Försterei will be well-filled this weekend. On Friday, 20,500 tickets were sold and the guest block was fully booked.
First Home Game for Svensson
For Rangers, it's a trial run for the first league game on August 3 against Heart of Midlothian. Union is playing its first home game in this summer preparation. Coach Bo Svensson and the recently signed players Ivan Prtajin (SV Wehen Wiesbaden), Leopold Querfeld (Rapid Wien), and Laszlo Benes (Hamburger SV) are generally preparing for their home debut.
