rail transport - Restrictions due to construction works in rail traffic in the north
On the important railway line from Hamburg to Kiel, there are restrictions due to construction work. From Thursday (today) 21.00 hours until Monday 4.00 hours, no train will run between Elmshorn and Neumünster. According to Deutsche Bahn, several track crossings will be renewed and tracks will be repaired on various sections.
The railway advises: Passengers traveling directly from Hamburg to Kiel can use the RE8/RE80 train from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof to Bad Oldesloe. From Bad Oldesloe Bus Station, Bus RE7 goes to Kiel. Passengers traveling directly from Kiel to Hamburg can use the Bus RE7 from Kiel Kaistraße to Bad Oldesloe and then the RE8/RE80 train to Hamburg Hauptbahnhof.
Passengers going to Wrist and Brokstedt can use the Bus RE70 between Elmshorn and Neumünster. The replacement stop in Neumünster will be relocated to the Post parking lot at Friedrichstraße corner Färberstraße during this period.
In long-distance traffic, the ICE-Sprinter trains Kiel–Hamburg–Hannover-Frankfurt/Main (Munich) and the ICE-trains Kiel/Lübeck–Hamburg–Bremen-Hannover-Fulda-Nuremberg-Munich will be cancelled entirely between Kiel and Hamburg from Friday, 19. July until Sunday, 21. July.
- Despite the rail transport restriction on the Hamburg to Kiel line due to construction in Elmshorn and Neumünster, German Railways recommends alternates for passengers.
- If you're traveling directly from Hamburg to Kiel, utilize the RE8/RE80 train from Hamburg Hauptbahnhof to Bad Oldesloe, followed by Bus RE7 to Kiel.
- For passengers heading directly to Kiel from Hamburg, take Bus RE7 from Kiel Kaistraße to Bad Oldesloe and then transition to the RE8/RE80 train to Hamburg Hauptbahnhof.
- Rail traffic between Elmshorn and Neumünster is temporarily suspended due to track crossing renewals and repairs along various parts of the railway line.
- Passengers bound for Wrist and Brokstedt can utilize the Bus RE70 between Elmshorn and Neumünster, with the replacement stop relocated to the Post parking lot at Friedrichstraße corner Färberstraße during this period.
- Long-distance rail transport, including ICE-Sprinter trains between Kiel–Hamburg–Hannover-Frankfurt/Main (Munich) and ICE-trains between Kiel/Lübeck–Hamburg–Bremen-Hannover-Fulda-Nuremberg-Munich, will be entirely cancelled between Kiel and Hamburg from Friday to Sunday due to these rail transport restrictions.
