Remmo clan fails to free prisoners
The Remmo clan is known for sensational criminal cases. Most recently, members attempted to free an imprisoned family member from a hospital - and failed.
Members of the notorious Berlin Remmo clan are said to have attempted to free a family member who was being held in a hospital. The police spoke of an attempted prisoner liberation. This was reported by the "Berliner Morgenpost" and "Tagesspiegel" newspapers.
The men are said to have turned up in cars near the hospital in the Buch district of Berlin at around 3 a.m. on Wednesday night. Mentally ill and addicted offenders are housed there. They are said to have cut a hole in the fence and approached the cell room. They then tried to cut open the bars with a grinder. Security staff noticed the attempt and intervened. The security staff were unable to gain access to the detainee themselves: Investigators suspect that the inmate had manipulated the lock to prevent them from getting in.
The perpetrators aborted the attempt to free themselves and fled in their two vehicles. They left their burglary tools at the scene. The inmate did not open the door to his cell again until they had escaped. He is now being held in an isolation cell.
The responsible Senate Health Department has now confirmed the incident. According to the report, there had been an attempt the previous night to "free a patient from the hospital of the Buch prison. This attempt was unsuccessful due to the quick and professional intervention of the security staff. No one was injured." The State Office of Criminal Investigation is investigating.
