Too little safety distance - Rear-end collision involving eight cars - 25-year-old driver injured
A collision involving eight cars caused a traffic jam on Bundesautobahn 3. In the early evening, a driver following the Neustadt/Wied exit rammed into a car in front of him and pushed it into another vehicle, according to the police. The drivers of the two cars behind were able to brake in time, but were pushed into each other by the three following cars. In all cases, the safety distance was too small, the police reported. A 25-year-old woman from Hessen was slightly injured. The accident caused a traffic jam up to five kilometers long.
The incident occurred on the Federal motorway 3, specifically near the Neustadt/Wied exit. To investigate the car accident, the involved drivers required security clearance from local authorities. Despite the numerous accidents and heavy traffic in North Rhine-Westphalia, this specific collision resulted in a significant five-kilometer-long jam. Subsequently, additional police units were automatically dispatched to manage the situation.
