Crime - Prison sentence after murder and rape of 19-year-old girl

Following the violent death of a 19-year-old, the Osnabrück district court has sentenced a man to nine years in prison under juvenile criminal law. The sentence was handed down for the rape and murder of the 19-year-old, a court spokesperson announced on Tuesday.

The juvenile division of the regional court also found him guilty of a further rape, which the accused committed as a juvenile, it said. The verdict is not yet final.

The trial against the accused German, who was 20 years old at the time of the 19-year-old's murder on March 5, has been taking place in camera since the beginning of September. According to the district court, the verdict was handed down on Monday.

The court held the trial in camera on the basis of juvenile criminal law because the defendant was also accused of two crimes that he had committed as a juvenile. The Osnabrück District Court referred to the case law of the Federal Court of Justice.

The 19-year-old from the district of Osnabrück was found seriously injured on March 5 in a meadow near the shooting hall in Bramsche-Pente (district of Osnabrück). Despite resuscitation attempts by the emergency services, the young woman was found dead in hospital. Like the convicted man, she had previously been a guest at a birthday party with around 150 guests in the hall. Suspicions quickly arose against the 20-year-old, who was remanded in custody.
