Bad Hersfeld Festspiele - Premiere with Stars and Snowstorm
No-Angels-Star Sandy Mölling brings a unique guest as an actress of the piece "Like in Heaven" to the Bad Hersfeld Festspiele. For the first time, the singer and actress will be on stage with her son Noah, as the festival management announces. "Like in Heaven" has its premiere on Friday (26.7., 8:00 pm).
Son on stage and in real life
Mölling embodies the character Gabriella, who is married to a violent man in the play. Singing gives her self-confidence. Noah plays Gabriella's son. According to the festival, he shares the role with other small actors, as children are not allowed to be on stage every night.
Festival Intendant Jörn Hinkel directs the play himself, which is based on the same-named cinema success. About the role of Gabriela, he says: "Her husband keeps telling her she has no talent, that she should take care of the children and not waste her time in the choir."
Mölling finds the casting exciting: "I find the production wonderful, that such a well-known artist, who has traveled the world with the No Angels, embodies a woman who doesn't trust herself to sing, who has to discover her voice for herself."
Snow machines in the monastery ruins
The audience has many discoveries in store: So it will snow in the monastery ruins, where the festivals are held, in the middle of summer. With snow machines, Hinkel wants to create a Swedish winter landscape in which the play begins. Christmas men and real birch trees are also brought onto the stage.
To the ensemble of "Like in Heaven" belong, among others, Jürgen Hartmann ("Tatort"), Brigitte Grothum ("Drei Damen vom Grill"), and the former TV commissioner Walter Kreye ("Der Alte"), who has stepped in for his sick acting colleague Horst Janson.
With over 90,000 female and male visitors in the past year, the festivals in Bad Hersfeld belong to the largest and most traditional in Germany.
