A large power outage is causing problems in the Kaiserbaden area on the island of Usedom. Early in the morning, there was an underground cable fault in the energy supplier Edison's network in the Bansin area, according to their statement. As a result, the power supply was disconnected in the region around the Kaiserbaden areas of Bansin, Ahlbeck and Heringsdorf. Experts are now on site to restore the power supply.
"We are currently calculating that it will still take some more hours for this to go on," said Heringsdorf Mayor Laura Isabelle Marisken in the afternoon. Thousands of households are affected. For people who need electricity for medical reasons, a emergency center has been set up at the fire department's rescue station. There was also a power outage in parts of Eggesin, Ueckermunde and Friedland on Tuesday afternoon. According to statements from the network operator Edis, the cause was maintenance work during which a power pole fell over. The last affected households were only supplied with power again after more than four hours. It is still unclear why the pole fell over. There is no known connection to the power outage on Usedom.
