Fire in guest house - Possible arson: Police are looking for suspects
After a possible arson attack on a Gaststätte in Neunkirchen-Seelscheid (Rhineland-Palatinate district), the police are still looking for suspects. "We have nothing new to report at the moment", a spokesperson for the case stated. The investigation is ongoing.
The police are investigating a attempted murder case and cannot exclude a foreign background based on their own statements. Two men with Tunisian citizenship, aged 55 and 59, were injured in the fire on Monday. Investigations and evidence analysis revealed that a premeditated arson could have occurred.
"Since a foreign background cannot be excluded, the State Protection of the Bonn Police is also involved in the investigation", the police announced.
The two men had slept in the first floor of the building and were woken up by loud noises. The fire had already spread to such an extent, according to their statements, that leaving the Gaststätte through the ground floor was no longer possible. Therefore, they jumped from the first floor onto a trash can. In doing so, they sustained injuries.
The incident occurred in a guest house located in the Rhine-Sieg-District, which is part of North Rhine-Westphalia. The police in North Rhine-Westphalia are collaborating with the State Protection of the Bonn Police due to the possibility of a foreign involvement in the case. The two injured men had to jump from the first floor to escape the intense fire, leading to their injuries.
