Pope Francis cancels all audiences

The Pope's state of health last gave rise to great concern and persistent rumors of his resignation in March. Now Francis is once again canceling all appointments at the Vatican due to the flu. The symptoms are said to be mild.

Pope Francis has canceled appointments planned for today due to a mild flu. This was announced by the Vatican, as reported by "Sky News", among others. In a statement, it says: "The audiences of the Holy Father planned for this morning have been canceled due to a mild flu." The Pope's next public appearance is already scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday, when he will address the crowds in St. Peter's Square in his weekly message.

The 86-year-old is also due to attend the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference in Dubai in the near future. The event will take place from November 30 to December 12. The Pope is expected to meet with leading politicians who will be attending the climate conference. A speech by the head of the church is also planned.

Pope Francis had an intestinal operation in June

The Pope, who will turn 87 in December, has already had to contend with health problems this year. In March, Francis was admitted to hospital in Rome with a respiratory infection. In May, he suffered from a fever and had to cancel appointments. In June, the pontiff then had to undergo emergency surgery due to an impending intestinal blockage and then remain in hospital again for several days. Prior to this, the Pope's health had deteriorated, as the Vatican announced at the time. By the evening of the same day, however, the official statement said: "Pope Francis' operation is over: It went without complications." The Pope had already undergone surgery for an inflammation of the intestine in 2021.

The Pope's state of health is a constant source of speculation. Due to persistent pain in his right knee and sciatica, he was confined to a wheelchair for most of last year. In March, despite his health problems, Francis said that a resignation was currently out of the question.

Despite the ongoing concerns about his health, International leaders are still looking forward to meeting Pope Francis at the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference in Dubai. Regardless of his flu, Pope Francis has rescheduled his public appearance for tomorrow.

Amidst the speculations about his health, Pope Francis has once again cancelled all appointments at the Vatican, this time due to a mild flu, as reported by various news outlets like Sky News.
