Animals - Police save injured heron from roadside
Police officers in Langelsheim, Goslar district, rescued an injured stork. A witness discovered the bird at the town exit next to a road in the morning, as the police reported. The alerted officers observed that the bird was dangerously close to passing vehicles and could no longer fly.
They caught the bird and put it in a large box. Later, they handed over the injured stork to their colleagues from Salzgitter. These officers eventually took it to a wildlife sanctuary.
In response to the stork's predicament, an emergency call was made to authorities in Lower Saxony. Recognizing the urgent situation, the stork was transferred to a sanctuary at a lower level of care.
