Police looking for two-year-olds in Baden-Württemberg
At the weekend, a small child disappears in Bingen at the foot of the Swabian Alb. Almost 200 emergency services are searching at full speed for the missing girl - so far without success. The child is also in great danger due to the low outside temperatures.
These are anxious hours: Since Sunday evening, a two-year-old child has disappeared without a trace in Bingen near Sigmaringen at the foot of the Swabian Alb. Emergency services searched feverishly for the girl until late into the night, and divers, boats and drones with a thermal imaging camera were also deployed - to no avail. The toddler was not found at first, a police spokeswoman said in the morning. The search operation is now continuing.
Among other things, the police are considering whether to use a police helicopter in the search. This was reportedly not possible on Sunday evening due to the weather. They will "pull out all the stops" to find the toddler, and divers and sniffer dogs will also be deployed, the spokeswoman said.
Almost 200 emergency services searched for the girl in Bingen on Sunday evening until around midnight, after which the operation initially continued on a smaller scale. The police were particularly concerned about the weather conditions: due to the low temperatures, the danger to the child was very high, said a spokesperson. It was therefore important to intervene quickly.
According to the information provided, the police, fire department and technical relief organization are participating in the large-scale search operation. Because the River Lauchert runs close to the home of the toddler's parents, fire department divers were deployed. The police were initially unable to provide any information on the background to the girl's disappearance.

The fire department has sent divers to assist in the search for the missing two-year-old in Bingen, as the River Lauchert is located near the child's home. Due to the international attention the case has received, authorities are coordinating their efforts with international partners to increase the chances of finding the child. Despite the initial challenges, the police are committed to providing technical assistance and using all available resources, including a police helicopter, to locate the child as soon as possible, considering the children's vulnerability in the severe weather conditions.
