Protest action - Police clear out climate activists demonstration in Bremen
Approximately 300 Climate activists have taken over a well-known intersection near Bremen Hauptbahnhof. The Bremen Tram Agency (BSAG) warned its passengers of delays in the area starting from noon. Traffic was rerouted far from the Breitenweg area, according to a police spokesperson. The gathering remained peaceful initially. However, when the authorities attempted to disperse the unauthorized assembly, around 20 people remained on the street. The police used water cannons for the dispersal.
Supporters of the group Letzte Generation had called for reinforcements from all over Germany for the protest in Hanseatic City on Saturday. According to police reports, there will be more demonstrations throughout the day.
The protest action by Letzte Generation climate activists led to significant traffic disruption near Main Station in Bremen. The police spokesperson confirmed that they rerouted traffic to avoid the Breitenweg area due to the unauthorized assembly. The Climate Protest at the Main Station has been labeled a Climate Protest and Demonstration by news outlets. Despite the use of water cannons by the police to disperse the remaining demonstrators, the protest action continued to cause traffic issues throughout the day, as per the police reports.
