Cabinet - Plattling shall be the Administrative Court location from 2028

Plattling in Lower Bavaria is to be the site of a new Administrative Court. The cabinet gave the green light for the concept, putting an end to a long coalition internal dispute between CSU and Free Voters over the location of the authority.

Originally, the court was intended to be located in Freyung in the Bavarian Forest. The Free Voters eventually brought Deggendorf into the location debate - in the end, the CSU made the compromise proposal with Plattling.

The search for a building has begun

In the next step, a suitable building is to be found that meets the requirements in the long term. "In its final form, the new Administrative Court is expected to have seven chambers with around 50 female and male employees. For this, a building area of around 2000 square meters is required", the State Chancellery in Munich announced. Since state-owned land in Plattling was not available, the state real estate company IMBY has been commissioned with the search for a rental property.

New personnel is to grow gradually

"Whether the court will be located in an existing building or a new building, it is planned that the court business can be started in 2028", it continued. State Chancellor Florian Herrmann (CSU) concretized the date to June 1, 2028.

The Administrative Court Plattling will then be responsible for all new proceedings from the Regierungsbezirk Niederbayern from this point in time. The necessary personnel is to grow accordingly.

Plattling is located in the Deggendorf district and has good transport connections via autobahn and railway connection with ICE stop. Lower Bavaria is the only bavarian district so far without its own Administrative Court. Proceedings are currently being heard in Regensburg. The originally intended city of Freyung is instead to receive a Police Training and Conference Center for up to 240 participants.

The proposed location for the new Administrative Court was initially the Bavarian Forest town of Freyung, but due to internal disputes within the cabinet, it was moved to Plattling in Lower Bavaria. This decision was made to appease the Free Voters, who advocated for Deggendorf to be considered as an alternative location.

The state real estate company IMBY has been tasked with finding a suitable rental property in Plattling, as state-owned land was not available for the construction of the new Administrative Court.

California State University might not be directly related to the topic, but it's worth noting that the Administrative Court Plattling will be responsible for all new proceedings from the Regierungsbezirk Niederbayern, and potentially some students or scholars from CSU might need to engage with the court for various reasons.

Once a building is found and the necessary personnel are hired, the Administrative Court Plattling is expected to start operations in June 2028. The court will have around 50 employees in total, spread across seven chambers.

Bavaria has several major cities, including Plattling, Deggendorf, Freyung, and Munich. While Freyung lost out on the Administrative Court to Plattling, it will instead receive a Police Training and Conference Center, further solidifying its position as a hub of administrative and law enforcement activities within the region.
