Terror - Planned attack - Trial against teenagers begins
Together with another teenager from North Rhine-Westphalia, he is accused of planning an attack on a Christmas market and a synagogue: The trial against a youth from Wittstock is taking place today at the Neuruppin District Court (9.30 am). He is charged with preparing a serious, state-threatening act of violence. He was arrested at the end of last year, when he was 16 years old. Since he is a minor, the entire proceedings are taking place in closed session.
According to the court, the Chechen allegedly planned an attack on the Christmas market in Leverkusen-Opladen in the name of the Islamic State. His goal was reportedly to kill a large number of visitors.
The accused hails from the region of Brandenburg, specifically Wittstock.The attempted attack was not limited to one location, as it also included a synagogue in North Rhine-Westphalia.Despite being a minor at the time of arrest, the police have been closely monitoring the ongoing court process in Neuruppin.In light of the serious charges, any act of terrorism, including planned attacks on public places like Christmas markets, will be met with stringent legal proceedings.
