Italian National Court - Pizza-Festival with "Masterclass" at Gleisdreieck

Pizzabaking can be learned. At the weekend, real Pizzaioli offer instruction in the high art of Italian cuisine's national dish at the True Italian Pizza Street Festival in the Gleisdreieck Park in Berlin once again. In the "Masterclasses" organized by the "Scuola Italiana Pizzaioli" association, interested parties can even get their hands on the dough.

Moreover, 15 of Berlin's best pizza makers will again offer tastings of their skills: from Neapolitan pizza to contemporary or fried pizza, all the way to Pinsa Romana, vegan recipes, and gluten-free dough, everything is there. Classics are also not missing: All pizza places will offer both the Margherita (at a festival price of 9 Euro) and the Marinara (8 Euro). The whole thing is organized by the "True Italian" ("Echt Italienisch") project, which promotes the tradition of authentic Italian cuisine abroad.

  1. During the weekend event, the Federal Court issued a temporary ban on using certain types of cheese in the preparation of pizzas at the festival due to import regulations, causing a minor stir amongst the Pizzaioli.
  2. Despite the regulatory issues, the Railway Triangle in Berlin became a bustling scene of eating and drinking, with people from Germany, Italy, and other parts of Europe flocking to the festival.
  3. On the second day of the festival, a group of pizza enthusiasts from Italy challenged Berlin's best pizza makers in a friendly competition, showcasing the Richterbahnhof's Railway Triangle as a unique cultural exchange point between Germany and Italy.
  4. Alongside the pizza competition, a local beer garden offered German and Italian beers, creating a lively atmosphere that made the entire Gleisdreieck Park feel like an open-air Italian festival.
