Sportchef Andreas Bornemann has given a positive assessment of trainer Alexander Blessin's work during FC St. Pauli's promotion league training camp. "I'm very happy that we found him. He's familiar with the challenge that comes with a higher league. He's taken on something that has worked very well between the team and the coach for the past year and a half," Bornemann said about Blessin, the successor of promotion coach Fabian Hüritzeler, and his work in Austria.

Bornemann also commented on a possible signing of striker Morgan Guilavogui from the French first division club RC Lens: "The profile fits, he's a great player. Some things need to align. Convincing the player that it could be the right step for him is also important." He hopes that FC St. Pauli will "get one foot in the door": "That will show in the coming days." Bornemann also did not rule out the possibility of the club signing a new outside defender.

For the next test, the Kiezkickers travel to the British Isle. On 3rd August, FC St. Pauli faces the Second League team Norwich City. The Bundesliga season for the Hamburgers begins on 25th August with a home game against 1. FC Heidenheim.
