Weather - Over 150 accidents due to snow and icy conditions
Slippery roads led to 179 traffic accidents in Mainz, Worms and some districts in Rhineland-Palatinate on Monday between midday and the evening. According to the police, people were injured in eight of these accidents.
Among others, a child and two women aged 25 and 40 were slightly injured in a head-on collision on a country road near Wolfsheim ( Mainz-Bingen district). The 25-year-old woman's car, in which the child was also travelling, left the slippery winter road on a right-hand bend and crashed head-on into the 40-year-old woman's car.
According to reports, the traffic situation eased considerably on Tuesday night. The night was also calm in other parts of Rhineland-Palatinate. In Kaiserslautern, Trier and Ludwigshafen, the police reported no major incidents despite the weather.
