Handball Bundesliga - Only Flensburg and Hannover at home for the season opener
Record champions THW Kiel and TSV Hannover-Burgdorf are among the teams that will open the new Handball Bundesliga season on September 5th. According to the recently released schedule, THW will play away against Rhein-Neckar Loewen (8:30 pm/Dyn). The "Recken" will host VfL Gummersbach at home at 7:00 pm.
HSV Hamburg and SG Flensburg-Handewitt will start the new season on Friday, September 6th. European League winners Flensburg will first play at home against HC Erlangen (8:00 pm/Dyn). HSV will travel to Frisch Auf Goeppingen (7:00 pm/Dyn).
THW will play its first home game on September 12th against Goeppingen. Hamburg's home opener is on September 15th against German champions SC Magdeburg.
The 111th Schleswig-Holstein Derby between Kiel and Flensburg, also known as the "Nord-Clasico," is scheduled for November 17th in the state capital of Schleswig-Holstein. In the previous season, the SG won both encounters.

- Apart from THW and Hannover, HSV Hamburg and SG Flensburg-Handewitt are also looking forward to the start of the Handball Bundesliga 2022-23 season.
- SG Flensburg-Handewitt, the victors of the European League, will begin their new campaign by hosting HC Erlangen.
- Meanwhile, HSV will kick off their season with a trip to Frisch Auf Goeppingen for their Handball Bundesliga opener.
