Fire department dispatch - Once again, smoking development on yard for luxury yachts

Three weeks after a major fire at the Lürssen-Kroger yard in Schacht-Audorf, Rendsburg, another Fire Department operation is taking place. "There is smoke development there," said a police spokesperson to the German Press Agency. The Fire Department alarm was triggered. However, there is no open fire.

On July 2nd, a fire caused extensive damage in a ship hall. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are still unknown. The police have started investigations. According to dpa information, in the hall was the new build of a 75-meter long yacht. Its estimated value was reportedly around 100 million Euros. The construction (Project name "Honolulu") was already well advanced. The yard specializes in building luxury yachts.

The yard has not yet commented on the possible cause of the fire and the ship in the shipbuilding hall. The Lürssen Group has its headquarters in Bremen. At the Schacht-Audorf location, medium and large yachts from 55 to 110 meters in length are built, as well as refits and maintenance work on smaller ships. Even larger yachts have had their launch here.

  6. The Fire Department and police are utilizing their resources and expertise to minimise the impact of the large fire on the Lürssen-Kroger yard's operations and the local community.
  7. As a leading shipbuilding company, Lürssen Group recognizes the importance of fire safety and will collaborate with the relevant authorities to ensure adequate safety measures are implemented in their Schacht-Audorf yard.
