After the historical low number in the previous year, there is a significant increase in traffic fatalities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern predicted for 2024. On Tuesday evening, a 34-year-old motorcycle rider succumbed to his severe injuries, which he sustained in an accident on the A24 near Suckow (Ludwigslust-Parchim district) the day before. With this, 47 people have died on the roads of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern since the beginning of the year, confirmed a spokesperson of the Interior Ministry.
In the entire previous year, there were 57 traffic fatalities in the northeast. This was the lowest recorded number. The drastic increase in this year was first reported by radio station Ostseewelle. In the first half of 2023, 27 people died in traffic accidents in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The predicted rise in traffic fatalities in 2024 is a concerning statistic for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, surpassing the historical low of 57 accidents recorded in the previous year. The Motorcyclist's fatal accident on the A24 near Suckow brings the total number of road fatalities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to 47 this year, significantly higher than the traffic sector's previous trends.
