Airports - Normal operation at airports - Occasional disruptions
After the worldwide IT disruption, the operation at the two largest NRW airports in Düsseldorf and Cologne is running stable. The Cologne/Bonn Airport expected a "completely normal airport operation" today. Following the IT issues on Friday, airlines are still experiencing some delayed or cancelled flights, according to a spokesperson. The IT systems of both airports were not affected by the disruption.
At Eurowings, the effects of the global disruption were still noticeable in their entire network. Crews and aircraft had to be repositioned, the spokesperson said. Out of the 650 scheduled flights today, approximately 30 arrivals and departures had to be cancelled. Flights to London, Zagreb, and Berlin were among those cancelled at the Cologne/Bonn Airport.
The Düsseldorf Airport reported that the systems were running stable. Some disruptions due to the previous disruption were still noticeable with Eurowings. According to the spokesperson, around 20 departures and arrivals by Eurowings had to be cancelled at Düsseldorf on Saturday.
The Düsseldorf Airport, the largest in NRW, expects an average of almost 70,000 passengers per day during the summer holidays. In total, around 3.3 million passengers are expected during the holiday season. At the Cologne/Bonn Airport, there are planned 146 arrivals and 139 departures today, according to a company spokesperson.
