No disturbance reports in the northeast

Worldwide computer problems seem to have bypassed MV. The state government is not implementing applications from Crowdstrike, which may have resolved the issues.

Computer disturbances - No disturbance reports in the northeast

Global computer issues with significant impacts on air traffic, hospitals, and administrations have not caused widespread disruptions in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Helios Clinics in Schwerin and Stralsund, as well as the University Clinic Rostock, reported no problems in a survey by the German Press Agency. The same goes for the city administrations of Schwerin and Rostock and all six district administrations. The state government's systems were also running smoothly.

A spokesperson for the Interior Ministry stated on Friday afternoon that the Data Processing Center MV (DVZ M-V) as an IT service provider for the state government does not use tools from the company CrowdStrike, which is believed to be the cause. However, it could be that communication partners outside the state government are affected, the spokesperson added. If the land uses such services from outside, "uncontrollable disruptions from here cannot be ruled out."

Global significant issues

Global issues are significant. In other countries, apart from air traffic, the operation of banks and hospitals was disrupted. The Australian government held a crisis meeting due to the global computer problems.

In Germany, Berlin Airport had to temporarily halt operations at the start of the holidays. Disruptions also occurred at other airports. Passengers at Rostock-Laage Airport did not feel the effects of the global IT problems. A spokesperson stated that the flight to Mallorca was started with a few minutes delay due to a slightly delayed flight plan. Other flights were reportedly not planned for Friday.

The University Hospital in Kiel and Lübeck rescheduled all postponable surgeries due to computer problems.

IT update supposedly resolved issues

According to media reports, a error in a IT security firm Crowdstrike's program update was suspected as the cause. For instance, an energy company in Australia attributed the problems to this. Crowdstrike informed its customers of the issues in a statement, as reported by the technology website "The Verge."

The Northeast region of Germany, specifically Schwerin and Stralsund, were unaffected by the global computer issues affecting air traffic, hospitals, and administrations. Despite widespread disruptions internationally, the German Press Agency reported no problems at the Helios Clinics in Schwerin and Stralsund, the University Clinic Rostock, or any of the city or district administrations in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Interestingly, the state government's systems also ran smoothly during this period.

Contrary to some reports, Berlin Airport did not experience significant disruptions, with only a temporary halt at the start of the holidays. Air traffic at Rostock-Laage Airport remained unaffected, with only a slight delay to a flight to Mallorca due to a delayed flight plan.

In contrast, other airports in Germany and around the world were affected, leading to disruptions in air traffic. The Australian government held a crisis meeting due to the global computer problems affecting not only air traffic but also banks and hospitals.

Additionally, the University Hospital in Kiel and Lübeck had to reschedule all postponable surgeries due to computer problems, highlighting the impact of the issues beyond air travel.

The suspected cause of the global computer problems was an error in a IT security firm Crowdstrike's program update, according to media reports. This issue was also attributed to problems experienced by an energy company in Australia. Crowdstrike informed its customers of the issues in a statement, as reported by the technology website "The Verge."
