Disturbances - No computer problems at Saxon airports

Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports, according to their own statements, have not been affected by the worldwide occurring Computer problems. In Dresden, a Sundair aircraft of the airline landed which was supposed to go to Berlin, a spokesperson of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG stated upon request.

Unlike in Saxony, Berlin and Hamburg airports had to temporarily halt operations due to IT disturbances. Reports in the media mentioned disruptions in the aviation sector in other countries as well, along with the operations of banks and hospitals.

Initially, there were no effects reported at the Universities Clinics in Leipzig and Dresden, according to the respective press departments upon request. The same applied to the Clinicum Chemnitz.

According to media reports, the cause was suspected to be a error in a Program-Update of the IT-Security firm Crowdstrike. This error in turn affected Microsoft Software, media outlets such as Bloomberg reported.

  1. Despite the Computer problem affecting several airports globally, the spokesperson confirmed that neither Middle German Airports, specifically Leipzig/Halle and Dresden, nor Saxony's Leipzig, had encountered any issues.
  2. Contrarily to the airports in Leipzig and Dresden, the government had to intervene due to significant IT disturbances at Berlin and Hamburg airports.
  3. During the disturbances, a Sundair aircraft intended for Berlin was redirected to Dresden, resulting in an unexpected arrival at the Middle German Airports.
  4. In Leipzig and Dresden, despite initial reports of a potential problem, their respective hospitals and universities' clinics reported no interruptions in their operations due to the Computer issue.
