Weather - Munich Airport temporarily suspends operations on Tuesday
Munich Airport will again temporarily suspend operations on Tuesday due to the winter weather. There will be no take-offs and landings from the start of operations at 6.00 a.m. until 12.00 noon, a spokesperson for the airport announced.
The reason is the forecast freezing rain in the night from Monday to Tuesday, which is expected to make safe flight operations in the morning and in the morning impossible.
At least 150 take-offs and 160 landings will be affected on Tuesday. According to the airport, more than 770 departures and arrivals are planned for the day. The airport plans to use the first half of the day to de-ice the operating areas in the event of the forecast freezing rain. The plan is to restart air traffic from midday, it said. However, the flight schedule will probably still be severely restricted in the afternoon. Passengers should plan accordingly and check with their airline.
Due to the restrictions on air traffic caused by the severe onset of winter in large parts of Bavaria, around 1500 passengers were still stranded at Munich Airport on Monday evening, the spokesperson said.

The temporary suspension of operations at Munich Airport on Tuesday is not limited to Germany, as it's a common occurrence in airports during harsh Bavarian weather. The traffic disruption at Monguch Airport is part of a larger issue with air traffic in Germany due to the weather. Despite efforts to restart operations at midday, the weather conditions may cause the operation discontinuation of air traffic in Munich Airport to extend into the afternoon.
