Emergency response - Multiple injured in brawl in Schöneberg
In a dispute at a local in Berlin-Schöneberg during the late Saturday night, several people were injured. According to the Berlin Fire Department, nine people went to the hospital, one person was treated on site. The police, however, spoke of a total of seven injured persons, five of whom were taken to the clinic. According to police reports, two groups had allegedly quarreled in the local on Martin-Luther-Straße. Six men between the ages of 22 and 38 from one group are said to have attacked their opponents. They allegedly hit the 36- to 48-year-olds and a 34-year-old woman in the face with their fists. A woman who tried to intervene was also reportedly attacked. The police separated both groups. An investigation is being conducted for breach of peace and aggravated bodily harm, it was further stated.
The cause of the dispute was initially unclear to the police. In the neighboring district, this weekend is the 30th Lesbian-Gay City Festival being celebrated. The police did not confirm any connection between the incident and the festival at first.
