A motorcyclist seriously injured in a collision on the A24 motorway in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district on Monday has died. The 34-year-old was admitted to hospital on Tuesday evening due to injuries sustained in the accident, the police reported.

According to initial police findings, the motorcyclist attempted to overtake two trucks. This resulted in a collision, during which the motorcyclist crashed. He was first taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The autobahn was closed between Suckow and Parchim towards Hamburg for approximately seven hours as a result.

The accident occurred in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, specifically on the A24 motorway. The number of accidents on Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's autobahns has been a topic of concern for local traffic authorities. Despite the closure of the autobahn following the incident, regular traffic resumed towards Hamburg from Parchim after seven hours. The Police in Hamburg are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident involving a motorcyclist. The district of Ludwigslust-Parchim has seen its share of road accidents in recent times, raising questions about safety measures on German highways.
