Emergency - Motor failed - Sailboat towed on Danube
A roughly five kilometer distant recreational boat with two people on board was captured by the Volunteer Fire Department on the Danube. The 7.20 meter long boat was sailing near Deggendorf on a weekday (Mittwoch), according to the Traffic Police. During this, the propulsion was damaged and the engine failed. The crew, a woman and a man, were drifting with the maneuver-challenged boat on the river. Fire Department resources brought the boat and the crew to shore at Niederalteich. No one was injured. There was also no disruption to shipping traffic.
The distressed crew, lacking the ability to navigate due to engine failure, requested an Emergency response in Lower Bavaria's Deggendorf, located near the Danube. Fortunately, they were close to the site where the Day-Saving team in Bayern rescued them and their water-logged boat, mooring it safely at Niederalteich.
