State election - More questions? - Portal for the Landtag election
Before the Landtag election on September 1st in Thueringen, the online portal abgeordnetenwatch.de offers another decision-making aid. Starting now, voters can publicly ask questions to the 271 direct candidates there, as the organization announced. Each candidate's profile is available on the portal, which includes a biography, political goals, and further links. The party programs and Thuringian electoral law are also accessible to interested parties.
The citizens' questions and corresponding answers will be published on the profiles and remain accessible after the election. The portal should give citizens "the opportunity to give their vote to the person who truly represents their interests," explained Louiza Charalambous, project leader of abgeordnetenwatch.de. This offer - which allows citizens to form a balanced opinion themselves - is all the more important as the AfD, a constitutional protection-assessed right-wing extremist state association and its members, are also running.
In addition to the dialogue opportunity, abgeordnetenwatch.de will again offer the candidate check from August 1st. With this, voters can find out which candidates have the most agreement with them on Thuringian politics based on 14 theses. Abgeordnetenwatch.de currently collects the positions of the applicants. The candidates can be interviewed in Thuringen until the evening of the election on August 31st. The dialog platform was founded in 2004. The goal of the operators is to create more transparency.
