Tourism - More guests and overnight stays in Sachsen-Anhalt
In Saxony-Anhalt, according to a statistics report, there were nearly 364,100 guest nights and approximately 894,100 overnight stays in May compared to the previous year. This represents an increase of 4.4% in guests and 6.7% in overnight stays compared to May 2023, the Statistical Office announced.
Ninety-three-nine percent of the guests were from within the country, with an average stay length of 2.5 days. The largest increase in guests and overnight stays was recorded at camping sites, it was stated.
The boost in tourism in Saxony-Anhalt is reflected in the thriving tourism industry, with a significant rise in guest nights and overnight stays in May 2024. This growth is also evident in the hospitality sector, particularly at camping sites which experienced the highest increase in guests and overnight stays. According to the latest statistics, the tourism industry and its related sectors, such as accommodation, contributed substantially to Saxony-Anhalt's economy in the mentioned time frame.
