Wind turbine construction in North Rhine-Westphalia is gaining pace. In the first half of the year, 228 wind energy plants with a total capacity of 1,336 Megawatt have been approved, according to the Economic Ministry in Düsseldorf. In the previous year's period, it was still 178 plants with a total capacity of 910 Megawatt.

Economic and Climate Protection Minister Mona Neubaur (Greens) assesses the approval figures as evidence that the right path is being taken in the expansion. The build-up will continue to attract more in the coming months, estimates the Minister.

The Ministry's data indicates a significant increase in future wind turbine approvals in North Rhine-Westphalia. Germany's Economic and Climate Protection Minister Mona Neubaur expects this trend to continue, potentially leading to more approved wind energy plants in Düsseldorf. The surge in authorizations is also projected to boost North Rhine-Westphalia's renewable energy supply, with windmills playing a crucial role.
