School violence - Mitschuer recognised - Verdict demanded for murder
After the fatal shot at a 14-year-old student in Unterfranken, the Public Prosecutor's Office is demanding eight years and nine months of youth detention for the 15-year-old accused. In their plea before the Würzburg Regional Court, they also requested the placement in a social therapeutic institution, as a court spokeswoman announced. The charge of murder lust was not upheld by the court, but they still see the aggravating circumstance of premeditated violence as having occurred, as the shot was fired from behind. The maximum sentence for juvenile murder is ten years.
The 15-year-old German shot a 14-year-old Italian on the grounds of a school in Lohr am Main northwest of Würzburg in the previous September with a single shot from a pistol. He confessed to the fatal shot at the beginning of the main hearing. However, it was not an intentional shot. The hearing is not open to the public.
The pleas from the co-plaintiff's counsel and defense are expected for Thursday. The verdict is expected on August 5th.
The incident took place in Lower Franconia, specifically in Lohr am Main, which is near Würzburg in Germany. This is not the first case of criminality in the region, as reports of violence have been rising recently in Bavaria as well. Despite the defense's argument, the Public Prosecutor's Office in Italy is strongly advocating for the condemnation of the 15-year-old, citing the premeditated act of violence as a significant aggravating circumstance. The ongoing process in the Würzburg Regional Court aims to provide justice and closure, ensuring that such incidents do not recur in the future.
