Mysterious Disappearance - Missing: Vanessa Huber for 'Aktenzeichen XY'

In the search for missing Vanessa Huber from Unterhaching near Munich, the police and Huber's family are now relying on television. Her parents appeared on the ZDF missing persons show "Aktenzeichen XY... ungelöst" on a Wednesday evening. "We still hope," her mother said.

Huber was last seen on November 5, 2022. A surveillance camera showed her and her husband shopping in a supermarket in Unterhaching, just a short distance from their shared apartment. She was supposed to have left him shortly thereafter following a fight. Her husband reported this to the police. Since then, there has been no trace of the 39-year-old woman.

The police suspect the husband, but no evidence of this suspicion has been heard, said Munich Homicide Commissioner Stephan Beer. Suicide or the possibility that Huber had gone into hiding voluntarily are also not ruled out. Huber's husband has since died. The investigations against him were discontinued after his death in March.

New search in the fall

Investigators have a lot of work left in this missing persons case, especially in evaluating computers and other storage media. The police spoke of more than four terabytes of data material earlier this week. A clue was followed up on last week. A Geocode was discovered on the laptop of the husband, leading to a pond in Taufkirchen. Divers searched the water, but found nothing. In the fall, they plan to search a nearby field, said a spokesman for the Munich Police Headquarters.

With the appeal on the ZDF show, the police hope to gain new insights into what happened around the disappearance of the 39-year-old woman. At the end of October 2022, the couple had argued fiercely about money. The woman had then spent the night at a friend's house. "She looked sad and was just psychologically down," the friend said in the ZDF show.

A few days later, they had reconciled during a walk in the Perlacher Forest and were then seen shopping together at a discount store on November 5, 2022. The man reported his wife missing on November 7.

What Huber left behind

In the couple's apartment, items belonging to Huber were found, including bank and credit cards, glasses, a money pouch, mobile phones, an engagement ring, and her identity card. The investigators are now using photos taken during the forest walk to search for Huber nationwide. The financial advisor had also become a personnel referrer. She had also worked as a fitness trainer.

The investigators are particularly looking for witnesses who saw Vanessa Huber or her husband at the supermarket on November 5, 2022, after the shopping trip. "It's hard to imagine that she's dead somewhere," her mother said. And Beer added: "We all hope and wish that we will find Vanessa Huber alive."

  1. Ms. Huber's mother expressed her hope on the ZDF missing persons show, expressing, "We still hope."
  2. The police are reviewing File XY related to the case of Missing Persons Vanessa Huber, as they mentioned having over four terabytes of data material.
  3. Huber's girlfriend mentioned her sad and down state after their argument about money in October 2022, saying, "She looked sad and was just psychologically down."
  4. In an effort to find any leads, the police plan to search a nearby field in Munich, Bavaria, following up on a Geocode discovered on Huber's husband's laptop.
  5. After Huber's disappearance, her husband reported her missing and said she left following a fight, though they had reconciled a few days later.
