Agriculture - Ministry supports farmers in direct marketing

To improve income opportunities for farmers, the state of Lower Saxony supports projects for the direct marketing of agricultural products. Through direct marketing opportunities, farmers could achieve higher producer prices, the Agriculture Ministry in Hanover announced. This year, the ministry is making 2.1 million Euros available for the promotion of local value creation, it was stated. Applications can be submitted to the Chamber of Agriculture in Lower Saxony.

Grants can also be applied for farm shops where at least 50% of the agricultural products sold are locally produced. Investments should also be made in mobile slaughterhouses for on-farm slaughtering or in mobile or partially mobile dairies. In these cases, the regionality criterion does not apply. Funding is also available for communication measures for regional initiatives or fairs.

The Chamber of Agriculture in Lower Saxony, located in Hannover, is the place where farmers can submit applications for the 2.1 million Euros funding allocated by the Agriculture Ministry for promoting local value creation in BMELV (Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture). With the incentives, farmers can consider setting up farm shops, adopting mobile slaughterhouses for on-farm slaughtering, or investing in mobile or partially mobile dairies, which are not bound by the regionality criterion in marketing their products.
