A-levels without issues - Ministry of Education: Smooth NRW Abitur 2024

After the delayed start last year, the Abitur in this year, according to the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Education, has "run smoothly". The provisional average grade of 2.39 was reported by the ministry in response to an inquiry from the German Press Agency in Düsseldorf. A detailed results report will be published in the fall.

In the previous year, the start of the Abitur was postponed by two days for the first time in state history due to technical issues with downloading tasks.

In this year, approximately 73,000 students in NRW are reported to have taken their Abitur exams at 986 public and private grammar schools, comprehensive schools, vocational colleges, and Waldorf schools in a total of 40 subjects.

At the 233 vocational schools, around 8,000 students completed their Abi exams in 27 training tracks. The provisional average grade of 2.48 was reported by the ministry in this regard.

Super-Abi is not everything

School State Secretary Urban Mauer congratulated all exam takers warmly on their successful completion: "Be proud of your achievements and curious about what's coming next." To those whose exams did not go as planned, he said: "There are more important things than the perfect grade average."

Even after a failed exam, the sun rises again tomorrow, comforted Mauer. "Don't let setbacks discourage you, but use them as an opportunity to learn."

The Abitur exams in North Rhine-Westphalia this year, including those at the 233 vocational schools, were taken by a total of approximately 81,000 students. The former Education Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, Yvonne Gebauer, passed her A-levels (German school-leaving exam) at a school in Düsseldorf. The German Press Agency reported on the smooth running of the Abitur exams in North Rhine-Westphalia from its headquarters in Düsseldorf.
