MBC's run of success comes to an end
After their sensational 108:75 win at Alba Berlin, the basketball players from MBC Syntainics have landed hard on the ground again. The club from Weißenfels lost its Bundesliga home game against Würzburg Baskets by 72:88 (39:37) on Monday and so suffered another defeat after three wins in a row. Zachary Seljaas, Isaiah Washington (18 each), Maximilian Ugrai, Otis Livingstone II (16 each) and Javon Bess (10) played the biggest part in Würzburg's success. Johnathan Stove, Diante Baldwin (13 each), Chris-Ebou Ndow (12) and Kostja Mushidi (10) scored the most points for the MBC.
The home side's 11:1 blitz start (3rd minute) proved to be just a flash in the pan. Würzburg tied the scores at 15:15 in the first quarter (6th minute). An open exchange of blows then developed between the two teams up to half-time. However, the visitors produced a 14:2 run at the start of the third quarter to make it 53:41 (24'). The club from Weißenfels did not get any closer than five points (53:58/28). Despite their supremacy under the baskets (40:32 rebounds), the home side stood in its own way during the comeback. The club from Central Germany conceded 17 turnovers, whereas the disciplined Würzburg side conceded just six.
Despite MBC Syntainics' previous success in basketball, their Men's team faced a disappointing loss in the Bundesliga, losing to Würzburg Baskets 72:88. Despite a strong start, the Bundesliga home game ended in defeat, marking a setback in their winning streak.
