Trainer Ole Werner tried to make sense of SV Werder Bremen's loss against US Lecce in training camp. "We only played real tempo for about 30 minutes. Otherwise, there were many mistakes on both sides," said the 36-year-old after the 0:3 against the Italian football first division team. In the first test of the preparation for the Bundesliga season, Werner's team showed several problems in the match in Zell am Ziller on Saturday. "Not everything is working yet, and we have seen that not all are physically fit enough to play in the Bundesliga," said the head coach. "Especially in the last 10 to 15 minutes of both halves, it was noticeable to some extent."

Nikola Krstovic (31/34) scored for the Italians. "Lecce took advantage of the two opportunities they were given. Unfortunately, we did not use our chances in similar situations," stated Werner. Rafa Hamza came on in the 87th minute to seal the deal.

The Bremen team will stay in Austria until the coming Saturday. On Friday (14.00 hours), the team will face English Second Division side Sheffield Wednesday for another test.
