Police warn of caution - Man threatening with naked photo in chat

A young man from Perleberg (Landkreis Prignitz) sent a nude photo of himself to an online acquaintance and was then extorted. The 19-year-old met the initially unknown chat partner at the beginning of the week and exchanged photos with her, as the Police reported. The contact became intimate, and the man sent the nude photo.

According to the Police, the acquaintance, who identified herself as a Woman, demanded several hundred Euros from him suddenly and threatened to send the intimate photo to his contacts if he didn't pay. Instead of giving in to the demand, the man reported the incident to the Police. The authorities are now searching for the chat partner.

The Police advised against accepting friendship requests from unknown persons and against hastily agreeing to the exchange of images or video chats. In a video chat, caution is also advised when dealing with unknown or recently met acquaintances.

The extortion attempt occurred through an online platform, utilizing the anonymity provided by the Internet. This form of criminality is becoming increasingly common and requires heightened Caution. The incident took place in the Brandenburg region, specifically in the Prignitz District. Despite the threatening situations, it's crucial to report such incidents to the police to aid in their investigations.
