A man has injured himself while trying to extinguish a fire in his apartment in Fürstenwalde/Spree (Oder-Spree district). The 20-year-old was taken to hospital, as the police announced on Thursday. The fire broke out in the attic apartment on Wednesday afternoon for initially unknown reasons. The alerted fire department extinguished the fire. Property damage amounting to 10,000 euros was caused. Forensic engineers and the criminal investigation department are looking for the cause of the fire, it was reported.
