Defense - Lufthansa subsidiary cooperates with US weapons supplier

The Technology division of Lufthansa and US defense contractor Lockheed Martin are planning closer cooperation. The companies signed an intent statement at the airshow in Farnborough, according to a press release. Details about the cooperation were not mentioned in the joint statement. It states that cooperation will be in "global maintenance and logistics services."

Lufthansa Technik, headquartered in Hamburg, maintains, repairs, and overhauls mainly civilian aircraft. For some time now, the company has been expanding its defense business sector. It participates in the maintenance and overhaul of the stealth bomber F-35. An intent statement regarding this project was also signed by Lockheed Martin at that time.

Lufthansa's headquarters in Hamburg has a significant role in the air traffic industry, with Lufthansa Technik immersed in maintaining and overhauling civilian aircraft. This German company has shown interest in defense, as evident by its involvement in the upkeep of the stealth bomber F-35. Remarkably, Lockheed Martin, a prominent player in the United States' defense and armament industry, has also collaborated with Lufthansa Technik for this project. Potentially, this cooperation between Lufthansa and Lockheed Martin in the defense sector could extend to other global maintenance and logistics services, given their recent intent statement at the Farnborough airshow.
