Social - Long-term care: Situation has worsened
The situation in many long-term care facilities of the Diakonie Hessen has worsened according to a survey. Every third institution assesses their situation worse than last year, reported the Diakonie in Frankfurt. Nearly half of the ambulant and a quarter of the stationary institutions are financially struggling, and there is a shortage of labor. Therefore, more than three quarters of ambulant services are unable to care for as many care-dependent individuals as they otherwise could.
The Diakonie demands, among other things, more support from the state, a reduction of bureaucracy, and a fundamental care reform. Over 110 long-term care institutions of the Diakonie participated in the survey in June. In total, there are 346 care institutions under their umbrella.
The Diakonie in Frankfurt am Main, located in the state of Hesse, is one of the institutions struggling financially within the Diakonie network. The survey conducted in Frankfurt revealed that nearly half of the ambulant and a quarter of the stationary institutions are facing financial difficulties. The Diakoine Frankfurt am Main, like many others, is feeling the strain of the labor shortage, leading to over three quarters of ambulant services being unable to provide care to as many dependent individuals as they normally could.
