Judgment - Long prison terms in the trial for drug dealing and kidnapping
In the trial for attempted robbery and drug dealing, the three defendants, aged 23, 30, and 33, must spend several years in prison. The Hamburg Regional Court considered it proven that the three men, in different constellations, conducted business with cocaine and marijuana. In addition, they attempted to kidnap a man from a sports bar in the Eidelstedt district on November 1, 2023, with weapons. However, the man recognized the masked and armed defendants and escaped.
The 30-year-old, who had planned the kidnapping, was sentenced to a total of nine years and six months in prison for drug dealing in large quantities in two cases and drug dealing in large quantities of cannabis, as well as for possession of automatic firearms with the intention to endanger other persons, carrying an automatic firearm, and trading in an automatic firearm in conjunction with possession of ammunition, and attempted robbery. The 33-year-old was sentenced to two years and six months, and the 23-year-old to three years and ten months.
- The prosecution presented strong evidence of the men's involvement in illegal weapons possession, which included automatic firearms and ammunition, as part of their criminal activities.
- The 30-year-old defendant's criminality extended to drug trading, specifically in large quantities of cocaine and cannabis.
- The Hamburg Regional Court deemed it necessary to issue substantial fines alongside the prison sentences due to the gravity of the defendants' actions, which infringed upon freedom deprivation and public safety.
- The court proceedings involved careful examination of the evidence related to the attempted kidnapping, which was planned to occur in Hamburg with the use of weapons.
- Despite their convictions, the defendants maintained their innocence throughout the trial, denying any involvement in drug dealing, weapon possession, and kidnapping attempts.
- The verdicts and judgments handed down by the court served as a stark reminder of the severe consequences that result from engaging in illicit activities such as drug dealing and weapons trafficking.
