Alcohol at the tax - Lkw-driver slept multiple times during police control
A drunk truck driver fell asleep several times during a police check on the Autobahn 9 in Schkeuditz (Landkreis Nordsachsen). According to the police, the 60-year-old man was driving on the highway on a Wednesday evening and veered off the road. He was injured during the incident.
Police officers discovered the man's vehicle, which was standing beside the road in the undergrowth. The driver reportedly tried to reverse his truck to get it back on the road, but failed. A breathalyzer test administered to the man revealed a reading of approximately 2.16 promille. The police reported that his driver's license was not found and an almost empty schnapps bottle was discovered in the cab.
The man was then taken to the hospital. The officers also confiscated his driver's license and secured the vehicle key. The police are investigating him for endangering traffic.
In the same district of Nordsachsen, Saxony, where this incident occurred in Schkeuditz, there have been increasing concerns about alcohol-related traffic offenses. This incident highlights the need for more frequent police controls on the roads to deter such criminality. Leaving Leipzig towards Nordsachsen District, drivers should be aware of the strict enforcement of traffic regulations by the local police. Despite the man's attempts to maneuver his truck back onto the road, the consequences of his intoxicated state led to a serious incident, potentially endangering other traffic on the Autobahn 9.
