Affected is the Delikatess Geflügel Fleischwurst with the batch number 71396010824 and best before date 01.08.2024, as the Agriculture and Consumer Protection Ministry in Hannover announced. Eleven federal states affected

The affected article of the Gut&Günstig brand in the 400-Gram packaging (twice 200 grams) was predominantly offered at Edeka and Marktkauf-Markets in Lower Saxony and adjacent parts of North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as in Bremen, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg, Berlin, Rhineland-Palatinate and the Saarland. Additionally, the product was available in markets in the southern half of Bavaria, in Baden-Württemberg and adjacent parts of Hessen.

The contamination was detected in samples taken in Baden-Württemberg, according to the Lower Saxony Agriculture and Consumer Protection Ministry. Investigations into the case are ongoing.

Infection can cause serious diseases

The ministry warned against consuming the product. A Listeria infection can lead to severe complications such as blood poisoning and meningitis, especially for pregnant women, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems, it stated.

In pregnant women, the infection can also harm the unborn child without symptoms. A Listeria infection usually shows symptoms within 14 days of infection with diarrhea and fever.
